Friday

Well, I certainly am struggling through analyzing this book. I am not very good at this post modernist, who has the right to tell a story type of thing. I'm half way through, and of course, I'm thinking, maybe Friday wasn't all right in the head....

I haven't started reading, but this is hilarious: "maybe Friday wasn't all right in the head....". LOL! Makes me want to read!

The book is good. Should we talk about how Friday interacts in the environment and how the communicative process happens to him?
I really dont know what we have to say...

Yes Gislene, anything you want to say you should say. It said on the page about what we should do:

Friday Group: Friday (silence in second language learning and communication,
power roles, colonizer and colonized, …)

Also, when I asked about it Eva suggested that we deal with the symbolism in the novel. And herein lies my problem, because I think I am just daft - there are symbols??

Maybe someone could explain "colonizer" "colonized"?

The book was a little confusing, at times I couldn't tell who was narrating, if characters were dreaming, was the other Susan Barton really Susan Barton's daughter???? I wonder if I read the book again, if I'd have the same questions? But who has the time?

Anna, I find the little Susan Barton the most confusing character of all. WHO is she? WHAT is she? What does she symbolize?
However, we need to focus on Friday....
